Brief description

The X2DB is an open database containing structured meta-data for 2D materials that have been experimentally realized in monolayer or few-layer form. To enable consistent description, we use a taxonomy (see figure) covering crystal structure, sample morphology, synthesis methods, and characterization techniques. The X2DB does not contain measurement datasets. Experimental structures are – to the extent possible  - linked to their corresponding structure in computational databases (monolayer, bilayer and bulk). It also supports community uploads of published data, ensuring that the database continues to expand and remains a living resource for the field.
